Why Spring can make estrogen dominance worse (men too)

The light story behind estrogen dominance - spring light tips & our at home protocols

Estrogen + Histamine issues in spring & Your guide to spring light

Spring is not a neutral season..... It’s a rapid shift in light, immune activity, and hormone timing.

For many people this feels great - but for some people - the adjustment period can be uncomfortable.

In spring - day length increases, UVB begins to come back online or get stronger, and your brain starts pushing a completely different set of signals than what you were running on all winter.

If you don’t adjust to that, you get mismatch, and that mismatch is where a lot of what people call “estrogen dominance” starts to show up or get worse.

The thing is: estrogen isn't inherently the problem (men and women both make it and need a certain amount to feel optimal), but because it’s not being metabolized and cleared properly, and the timing of your hormones no longer matches your environment.

And then we encounter more histamine in spring (again something natural in the body - but there is a goldilocks amount).

Estrogen and histamine are deeply connected. Estrogen can increase histamine release, and histamine can push estrogen higher. Add in gut issues, and now you’ve got even more impaired clearance and more circulating estrogen.

So you end up in this loop:

more histamine → more estrogen → more inflammation → worse symptoms

And spring is the perfect storm for that loop to get started for many people as there are more environmental triggers, there is more immune activation, faster light changes, and for most people… no change in how they’re actually living.

This can also be why why adding more supplements, more restriction, and more “detoxing” can backfires....because this is a signal problem before it’s anything else.

And then if you want to take this to an even a deeper level - I opened up about my daughter's story this week & histamine/MCAS were major problems for her.

I explain our full protocols & everything we have done - HERE.

When my daughter was dealing with autoimmune encephalitis, histamine and inflammation were a huge part of the picture.

I hope you enjoy this deep dive article I wrote over on Substack!

Have a lovely weekend!
