A hematologist, two midwives, a man who nearly died of iron overload, and a dozen more experts look at low ferritin and iron dysregulation from every angle: blood work, gut, genes, hormones, minerals, pregnancy, kids, and light. Grab your free ticket here.

I built this summit because I lived it. I was stuck, nobody could tell me why, and it took looking at my whole terrain, not just one number, to finally move it. These are the people who helped me see the full picture.

Low ferritin content is everywhere I look right now. Your doctor might dismiss you, and then the internet will convince you that you need $3,000 of testing to sort it out.
In some cases extra testing might be warranted, but you can do a lot of investigating on your own if you know where to look.
Here’s the thing: low ferritin potentially comes from five different places, and each one calls for a different strategy. Taking an iron pill and hoping for the best skips the most important question, which is why it’s low in the first place.
One basic set of labs can give you clues about all five. A CMP (comprehensive metabolic panel), a CBC (complete blood count), and hs-CRP. If you haven’t had ferritin and an iron panel recently, add those too. At a lot of labs, the whole thing still comes in under a hundred dollars.
