(after literally trying everything) because I shifted my focus to mitochondrial health. What the weight loss industry gets WRONG
Time to shift your focus?
The weight loss industry is worth over $70 billion in the U.S. alone.
Despite its massive revenue, studies show that 95% of diets fail long-term. This means that most people who lose weight end up regaining it within a few years.
WHY? Most weight loss programs focus on quick fixes rather than sustainable lifestyle changes, and ONLY focus on diet and exercise.....leading to a cycle of weight loss and gain—often referred to as "yo-yo dieting."
So my story was no different than those statistics above & I by the time I hit my 40's - I could confidently say that I had tried it all. I had lost 100 pounds 3 times, and I still struggled with yo-yo dieting & the "on the wagon - off the wagon" thinking.
So what was the KEY that allowed me to finally lose 30 pounds & keeping it off for good? (And the exact formula I have used with thousands of people to do the same). Keep reading for the full story!

Honestly when it comes to weight loss - most people only approach it from the viewpoint of diet & exercise.
Absolutely NOT to say this doesn't have a positive impact....but what it fails to address is: the energy management system of the body - the mitochondria.
So when I was facing infertility - even though I was dealing with extra weight - I stopped focusing on weight loss & started focusing on improving my mitochondria.
Mitochondria are not only crucial for fertility - but they also are essential for energy production, metabolic regulation, antioxidant defense, cellular health, and overall well-being. Their proper function is vital to maintaining health & longevity and preventing various diseases.
How does improving mitochondrial health lead to weight loss?
Mitochondria are crucial for weight loss for several key reasons:
1. Energy Production:
Mitochondria are known as the "powerhouses of the cell" because they generate adenosine triphosphate (ATP) & cellular water (at cytochrome IV), the energy currency of the body. Efficient ATP production & cellular water are essential for supporting metabolism and overall energy expenditure, which are critical for weight loss.
2. Fat Oxidation:
Mitochondria play a vital role in fat oxidation and the metabolism of fatty acids. They help convert stored fat into energy during exercise and fasting, promoting fat loss and improving body composition.
3. Metabolic Health:
Healthy mitochondria contribute to better metabolic function, including improved leptin & insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism. This helps regulate blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of weight gain associated with leptin & insulin resistance.
4. Thermogenesis:
Mitochondria are involved in thermogenesis, the process by which the body generates heat and burns calories. This is especially important in brown adipose tissue, which has a high number of mitochondria that can burn fat for heat, contributing to weight management.
5. Regulation of Appetite:
Mitochondrial function influences hormones (such as LEPTIN) and signals related to appetite and satiety, thereby impacting food intake. Proper mitochondrial health can help regulate these signals, supporting weight loss efforts.
So - the missing piece for my health all along had been this: The energy management system - the mitochondria.
At the end of the day when I implemented these things STRATEGICALLY (the way I lay them out in the Leptin Reset) - I lost 30 pounds (without trying - as I was trying to get pregnant) - AND then got pregnant. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Light - Diet - Hydration - Sleep & other methods:
Sunlight Exposure: Daily exposure to natural sunlight, especially in the morning, helps regulate circadian rhythms and improve leptin sensitivity & hormone balance. This supports overall metabolic function and energy production vital for weight management (and overall health).
Nutrient-Rich Diet: A diet that teaches your body to be metabolically flexible & provides the right nutrients helps combat oxidative stress and protect mitochondria from damage. Once leptin sensitivity is re-established - some strategic intermittent fasting (done WITH hormone cycles) can also be extremely supportive.
Adequate Cellular Hydration: Proper hydration from the inside out is vital for efficient cellular function and metabolic processes. Dehydration can impair mitochondrial efficiency and lead to fatigue. It's not only what you drink - but how well your body can hold on to water.
Quality Sleep: Sufficient, restorative sleep (7-9 hours) is crucial for mitochondrial health. Sleep helps the body recover, repair, and regenerate mitochondria while promoting efficient energy use. Blocking blue light at night is a step that cannot be ignored.
Regular Exercise: Physical activity enhances mitochondrial biogenesis (the creation of new mitochondria) and improves their efficiency, boosting energy production.
Cold Exposure/Thermogenesis: Brief exposure to cold can stimulate mitochondrial activity, helping with fat metabolism and energy expenditure. Learning how and when to implement this based on hormonal rhythms & stress patterns is important.
Putting it all together:
When it comes to mitochondrial health - most people are quick to recommend a supplement list - IV therapies & expensive "biohacks".
Some of those might be helpful - but in the 5 years I have been teaching this information exclusively - I have seen hundreds of testimonials from people of all walks of life who only implemented the basics - read some of them here.
As someone who struggled with yo-yo dieting - falling on and off the wagon & constantly chasing the next trendy diet - this information has been life changing & I am in better shape at 45 *almost 46* than I was at 25.
