Do you still eat your meals in front of your TV or phone?

This is what made me stop & 5 reasons I get sunlight on my belly every day ๐ŸŒž

Why I put down my phone when I eat & ๐ŸŒž on the belly?

You might be reading this while eating, (keep reading to see why you might want to nix that habit) but on my continual quest to help others find easy ways improve metabolic health I've uncovered some interesting science that I would like to share with you today!

In this email I will also be sharing why I try to get sunlight on my belly every single day & how you can get 50% off upcoming webinars I am holding on cellular hydration & safe sun exposure!

Before we get into those topics: I added ANOTHER brand new bonus module to the Leptin Reset this week on how to navigate the challenges of living in extreme Northern latitudes and still reset hunger hormones, optimize cellular water, and support health and metabolism through the lens of circadian and quantum biology!

The good news is - if you own the program - you get this module & any future updates at no charge (even if the price of the program goes up in the future). If you don't have the program & you are ready to get started - click here for a subscriber discount & click here to get the course in a bundle for the best value.

You might be reading this email while enjoying your lunch or dinner ๐Ÿ‘€ & here's why you might want to put the phone (or the fork) down.

First of all - the best digestion happens when we can fully be present with our food & not what's on our phone or TV screen (and not while driving)

Digestion is a complex process involving hormonal signals between the gut and the nervous system, and it typically takes about 20 minutes for the brain to register fullness (satiety). If you eat too quickly, you may overeat before feeling full.

Additionally, eating while distracted by activities such as driving or typing can slow down or halt digestion, similar to the "fight or flight" response. Poor digestion can result in not fully absorbing the nutrients from the food consumed.

NOW - the Circadian/Quantum health lens: Blue light exposure has been showed to contribute to gut dysbiosis & alterations in the metabolism (see study)โ€‹

Not only can you negatively alter gut microbiome with excess blue light exposure during meals, but you also see impaired glucose tolerance (especially in the evening) when exposed to artificial blue light (see study).โ€‹

To protect my metabolic health: (this is also what I advise in my programs) I do not eat after sunset or in front of a screen, and I recommend a good quality pair of blue light blocking glasses as this study showed that after 1 month of wearing blue-light shield eyeglasses, there were improvements in fasting plasma glucose levels, insulin resistance, and sleep quality.

I do occasionally enjoy watching TV on a Friday night & use VivaRays blue blockers to ensure I do not have the negative impact of elevating cortisol & insulin in the evening so that my metabolism, sleep & mood are all on point!

โ€‹VivaRays is the brand I use & recommend to friends and family, because the quality of the materials they use are excellent & the glasses actually block the spectrum of blue and green they say they do.

โ€‹Click here & use code YOGI to save 15% on your VIvaRays & know that you are taking steps to improve your metabolism, mood & sleep every evening (and during the day when you are under artificial light or on screens).

For years I tried to hide as much of my body from the sun in the name of "health", but I also suffered with poor sleep, poor gut health, depression, anxiety & poor metabolic health.

Learning about Circadian Biology, Quantum Biology and Nutrition has been a major game changer for ALL OF THE ABOVE! In this free newsletter I love sharing information with you about how you can easily implement these strategies in the modern world to find your best health.

On the topic of gut health - here are 5 reasons I get sun on my belly every day (or close to it ๐Ÿ˜‰๐ŸŒž):

  1. Near infrared light (available all day long) penetrates much deeper than visible light, and has been studied to show profound positive effects on the gut microbiome. In fact, one study they covered saw a 10,000 fold increase in the ratio of healthy bacteria from using near-infrared light on the belly!
  2. Exposure to UVB light has also been shown to cause an increase in gut microbiome diversity (see study)โ€‹
  3. Light exposure is the upstream factor that governs the regular diurnal fluctuations of gut microbiota that contribute to keeping your immune system healthy and strong (see study)โ€‹
  4. Better adaptation of the gut microbiome to daily & seasonal shifts that are modulated by light (more on this)โ€‹
  5. Red light (abundant in the morning and evening) can also increase collagen & elastin production in the skin (see study)โ€‹

Lastly - your gut lining is surrounded by Exclusion Zone water & we expand this up to 4-fold when exposed to infrared light! If you have leaky gut, exposing your belly to sunlight could be a powerful - free tool.
