A first look at Monday’s talks, and the messages that stopped me in my tracks this week
|
Doctors weigh in before Monday’s Summit, plus reviews are in!
Hi Reader,
Do you crunch ice? Like, can’t-stop, have-to-have-a-cup-of-it-every-day crunch ice?
Or maybe it’s your sister, your daughter, your best friend. You’ve probably joked about it, and most people do...but here’s the thing. That craving has a name, and it’s one of the classic signs of iron deficiency.
Dr. Julia Saylors, a hematologist and oncologist, talks about exactly this in the preview episode I’m sharing with you today. It’s one of the first clips from the Ferritin Terrain Summit, which goes live this Monday. (keep reading for the link to watch the hour long preview!)

And if you get sick every single time all the chaos stops - I have a brand new article for you at the bottom of this email!
I'll share the link to the new episode below, but first, I have to show you something, because I’ve been sitting on it all week.
You said it better than I could
The Winter Roadmaps are landing in inboxes, and the messages coming back have stopped me in my tracks more than once.
When I opened the Roadmap, I had no idea how many of you were coming in already depleted. Hair shedding, waking at 3am, cold all the time, vitamin D in the basement. So the plans got bigger & more extensive than I ever planned.
Here’s what’s come back.
“It’s so much more detailed and personalized than I was expecting and yet feels gentle to implement and not overwhelming. The Dump and Go recipe book is the icing on the cake!”
Gabrielle Laha
“It is SO incredibly helpful and actionable and reasonable and I feel so very hopeful and encouraged to have this gameplan going into this crazy life season of a new baby.”
Kathleen Wyne
Here’s what I keep noticing. Nobody is saying “this was so much information.” They’re saying it’s doable. That was the whole point.
These will only be offered for a couple more weeks & then I will be switching gears for Blueprint Live Coaching!

Don’t take iron until you watch this & why ice chewing isn't benign
For the last five months I’ve been deep in the world of low ferritin and iron dysregulation. Sharing my own story, talking with experts all over the world, and finding out just how much we’ve been getting wrong about iron.
All of it comes together Monday, October 26th, when the Ferritin Terrain Summit goes live. Five days. Fourteen experts. Free to watch live.
I pulled some of my favorite clips into a preview episode so you can get a taste of what’s coming. CLICK HERE for the full hour long episode!
Dr. Stillman on why iron pills may be doing more harm than good, and what he looks at instead.
Dr. Julia on that ice craving, and what she wants you to know about IV iron in pregnancy.
“You can’t build iron from chocolate.” Why the usual food-based iron advice falls short for the people who need help the most.
Chris on why your labs come back “normal” when you feel anything but, and the optimal ranges most doctors aren’t using.
Ferritin is a quantum machine. This one is going to blow some minds. Ferritin does a lot more than store iron, and the way it interacts with light and energy is wild.
Dr. Tyler on how your genes play into whether supplements help or harm you, and why some people seem wired for low ferritin no matter what they eat.
If you’ve been told your ferritin is “fine” but you still feel terrible, or you’ve been cycling through supplements with nothing to show for it, this one is for you.

And if you know someone who crunches ice all day, forward this to them. So many women have been told there’s nothing more to look at, and there is.
See you Monday.

In case you missed this
We’ve all experienced those brutal weeks (or months)….
Deadlines, short nights, too much coffee, and everyone needing something from you….or maybe even kids home all summer, and then they finally go back to school.
Somehow you hold it together the whole time, and you don’t even catch a sniffle, despite beginning to feel like you’re being dragged through the mud.
Then you finally get some downtime, and you take a real breath for the first time in a month.
By the next morning, you’re sick.
It feels like bad luck, but it happens to so many people that it actually has a name: the let-down effect.
But my question is: How did your body know to wait?
The human body is one massive interconnected orchestra, and your immune system isn’t some ancillary instrument that works alone.
It takes orders, and the thing giving those orders is often times your nervous system.
This is Part 1 of a two-part series I’m writing with my friend Ryan Mitchel Brown, a Nutritional Therapist, who’s worked with hundreds of clients with complex illness like POTs understand their immune system through a new lens by connecting systems.
