Cellulite, Lipedema & Bioelectrics

Why you can't "drain lymph" from a low redox state. The conversation we need to have about these issues that are becoming more and more common.

Cellulite, Lipedema & Bioelectrics

I put a question box in my stories a few weeks ago & asked my community on instagram what they wanted me to talk about.......and the number one answer was lipedema.

If you haven't heard of lipedema before - it affects up to 1 in 9 women, and is a connective tissue disorder driven by hormonal imbalance, mitochondrial dysfunction, and bioelectric collapse.

There are stages (stage one being the less severe), and lipedema can only be diagnosed by a qualified medical professional - often an endocrinologist, vascular specialist, or trained dermatologist (not an instagram post 😉).

I was actually diagnosed as stage one in 2021 while seeing an endocrinologist for fertility, and my mother has struggled with lipedema and lymphedema since I was a child (so I definitely have skin in the game here).

Most lipedema protocols talk about lymph, and some talk about hormones......but almost none talk about what powers the tissue itself:

Your bioelectric field.

And when that breaks down - no amount of detox, drainage, or dieting will move the needle.

You’ve definitely heard of cellulite, and you might’ve heard of lipedema.

But not many people are talking about what these conditions really are at the root- or why they’re exploding right now.

This isn’t just about fat or fluid; it's also about connective tissue that’s lost its charge, mitochondria that can’t keep up, and a light environment that’s potentially short-circuiting your hormonal rhythm.

In this article, I’ll break down:

  • Why estrogen dominance isn’t the full story (but it is a player)
  • Why you can't drain with poor charge
  • How sunlight, redox, and circadian rhythm drive fat metabolism & help improve bioelectrics
  • And why most protocols are missing the mitochondrial mark

Lipedema is an estrogen-sensitive condition. But it’s not just about “too much estrogen.” (click here to read my most recent article on estrogen dominance)

It’s actually about how well your body detoxes and metabolizes estrogen, and that’s directly tied to your light exposure and mitochondrial redox state.

Torres et al. (2021) showed that estrogen directly impacts mitochondrial bioenergetics, and Czeisler (1999) linked circadian timing to hormonal clearance.

This is why women with light mismatch or poor mitochondrial health see worsening symptoms - even on clean diets.

Your fascia, fat, and lymph aren’t just passive....they are also electrically active.

Work by Pollack (2013), Rubik (2002), and this research shows that water, collagen, and fascia can store and conduct charge - meaning they depend on electron flow and redox balance.

This means sluggish mitochondria = sluggish tissue, and when you’re low on charge, fat can become resistant, pain increases, and tissue can get fibrotic.

Your lymphatic rhythm follows your circadian rhythm, and your circadian rhythm follows light.

Scheiermann (2012) revealed that immune and lymphatic function are light-timed.

Leproult (1997) and Bass & Lazar (2016) linked poor AM light to impaired leptin signaling and cortisol rhythm.

This is why people with disrupted light environments often experience fluid retention and inflammation - even on perfect diets.

When mitochondrial output is low, exclusion zone water is also low - and connective tissue starts breaking down:

• Collagen synthesis slows

• ECM becomes stiffer

• Fibroblasts become dysfunctional

• Drainage becomes impaired

This review and this article both show this link between mitochondrial dysfunction and fibrotic fat.

So if your protocol doesn’t support mitochondrial charge & building exclusion zone water, you’re not solving the root issue.

Standard lipedema protocols focus on “moving lymph", but lymph doesn’t flow on its own.

Lymph needs charge - including:

Sunlight (Infrared, Red & UV)

Strategic cold exposure

Seasonal rhythm with food, fasting & light.

These are foundational for rebuilding a coherent bioelectric field.

Pollack (2013) found that light charges water inside tissues. Watanabe (2006) linked cold to mitochondrial uncoupling, and this study highlighted redox's role in lymphatic performance.

Wong-Riley et al. (2005) proved that red and infrared light stimulate ATP production in subcutaneous mitochondria.

This trial showed improved collagen, capillary dilation, and tissue repair with light exposure.

Wacker & Holick (2013) showed UV light activates alpha-MSH, which impacts fat metabolism and inflammation.

Sunlight literally recharges your fascia, your lymph, and your metabolic rhythm.....but the ironic thing is that most people with cellulite and or lipedema cover their legs (I certainly did - but losing the fear was a huge part of the healing process for me).

You need light as a basic foundation to restore charge to connective tissue - so my biggest piece of advice is to get your legs in the sun!

Sunrise is a fantastic time for red/infrared & mitochondrial support! Use MyCircadianApp to find out what time sunrise is for you based on your loaction.

This is especially important for practitioners.

If you’re still treating lipedema with keto + lymph - but ignoring light, redox, circadian repair, and quantum biology - you’re missing the mitochondrial foundation.

There is no sustainable fat loss or tissue repair without restoring charge and timing.

What to Do Next:

Most lipedema and cellulite advice skips the foundations, but no drainage protocol, supplement stack, or compression gear can fix a body that’s lost its charge.

To rebuild from the root, you need to:

  • Restore your redox
  • Rewire your circadian rhythm
  • Recharge your mitochondria with sunlight (red & infrared are extremely powerful & UV holds weight as well)
  • Rebuild Exclusion Zone Water
  • Understand the role of deuterium in the mitochondria
  • Consider gentle mitochondrial support through things like molecular hydrogen
