Exploring the Intersection of Nervous System Regulation and Hormonal Health.....what I learned the hard way
What does frozen shoulder have to do with your nervous system?
As I shared earlier this summer (in this video) - stress got the better of me in a few ways this year.
Compound hitting my mid 40's with having a child who has serious life long special needs - a toddler - aging parents on both sides who need lots of extra TLC - running a business - AND living in the modern world (which wires us for stress) - I started experiencing physical pain, hair loss & sleep loss.
Modern culture has trained us to immediately go looking for a pill - hormone or supplement (and I do think those options have utility in the right scenario), but in my case - I knew I was burning the candle at both ends.....and that HAD to be addressed first.
These symptoms were a huge sign to slow down & make changes.......but they also made me look deeper into how these issues can really manifest for many of us in mid-life, AND what role the nervous system might be playing as well.
I had a great time chatting about this with Irene Lyon this week, and the chat has now been uploaded to YouTube for easier viewing! Keep reading for the links & timestamps!

Hormones and the nervous system are deeply connected, and when your stress response is stuck “on,” your body may not respond as smoothly to the natural hormonal shifts of perimenopause and beyond.
And as I mentioned above - hormone therapy can be powerful support in the right canditate, but if the nervous system is dysregulated, symptoms may still persist.
That’s why deeper, nervous system work is so important.
