30,000 IU's of vitamin D for weight loss?

One of my Blueprint students tried this & had some not so good results.... Here’s what actually worked.

30,000 IU of Vitamin D for weight loss?

A woman joined my Blueprint program recently after trying what she thought was everything:

Keto, Fasting, Cutting calories, Eliminating food groups......Nothing worked for her.

Then her naturopath suggested something new: High-dose vitamin D for weight loss.

She was taking 30,000 IU per day (without any baseline testing to see if she was actually low in vitamin D)
And to be fair - there are a few studies that get cited to support this idea.

One small clinical trial found that women taking vitamin D saw a reduction in body fat mass, which led many people to assume vitamin D itself causes fat loss.

Keep reading for her results & what actually did work...

In the same study mentioned above (this one) here was actually no meaningful change in body weight or waist circumference.

And when researchers analyze multiple trials together, the results are even clearer.

A large meta-analysis concluded that vitamin D supplementation does not reliably produce weight loss or meaningful reductions in BMI.

In fact, the physiology often works the other way around.

Vitamin D is fat-soluble and stored in body fat. When people lose fat, vitamin D can actually be released from fat tissue, meaning higher vitamin D levels are often a result of fat loss, not the cause of it (source),

Meanwhile, pushing vitamin D extremely high can actually create other unfavorable imbalances:

In my student's case, the high doses began pushing down vitamin A signaling (these fat-soluble nutrients interact in the body) and it also drained magnesium, which is required for vitamin D activation and metabolism (source).

Low magnesium alone can create symptoms like:

• poor sleep

• fatigue

• headaches

• muscle tension

• blood sugar instability

She also started experiencing episodes of hypoglycemia.

So instead of improving her metabolism, the “vitamin D for weight loss” experiment was actually adding more metabolic stress.

When she joined Blueprint, we didn’t add more supplements.

We actually simplified everything.

We focused on the signals that truly regulate metabolism:

• light exposure

• circadian rhythm

• hydration and minerals

• meal timing (and the right macro balance for the individual - not a cookie cutter plan)

• balanced nutrition

Within our 6 weeks together…She lost 9 pounds.

Light, sleep, timing, hydration, stress, and environment are constantly communicating with your metabolism - and no supplement can override those signals.

That’s exactly why I created Blueprint.

Inside Blueprint we build a custom plan for your metabolism based on your lifestyle, environment, and biology.

Blueprint starts Tomorrow, and right now I only have 2 spots left.
Once those are filled, registration closes and the program begins.
