These women gained 11 pounds from something you might have done last night

One habit you can change now that could make a massive difference

These women were 17% more likely to gain weight...

Hi Reader,

I came across this study over the weekend & had to share it here as it is a super sneaky habit....and I often find people doing this - or allowing their partners to do this (thinking it is harmless).

Before we dive in - one quick note: we got quite a few replies to our last email (click here to read). While I am changing the format of what I will be offering (less DIY programs available and more live coaching) - if you already have bought one of my programs you will not lose access if you bought lifetime access! (click here to shop the sale that ends tomorrow).

More updates to come - so stay tuned!

Here's the study I'm excited to share with you:

An NIH study published in JAMA Internal Medicine tracked 43,722 women over nearly 6 years and after controlling for diet, exercise, and sleep duration, the one thing that predicted weight gain was light in the bedroom at night. Women sleeping with a light or TV on were 17% more likely to gain 11 pounds or more over the study period.

And here’s where it gets really interesting because it doesn’t take much light to trigger the effect. A separate Japanese study called the HEIJO-KYO study found that just 3 lux or more while sleeping was associated with higher body weight, larger waist circumference, higher triglycerides, higher LDL, and lower HDL, over two years, independent of calories, exercise, and sleep timing.

3 lux is almost nothing: It’s your phone charging across the room. Light coming under the door. A TV on standby. The average bedroom with a lamp on runs around 100 lux and a TV in a dark room is 10 to 50 lux. Most people think their room is dark enough and most people are wrong.

It also works the other way: The same Japanese research found that people getting 500 lux or more of bright light in the morning were more likely to reduce their waist size over that same period. Bright days and dark nights, that’s what your body was literally built for.

Here’s the thing though, you cannot feel the difference between 3 lux and 30 lux. Your brain absolutely can. Which is exactly why guessing doesn’t work and measuring does, and it’s one of the main reasons I built a lux meter directly into MyCircadianApp so you can see your actual numbers instead of just hoping your room is dark enough.

My tax day sale ends tomorrow night at midnight and MyCircadianApp lifetime access is 50% off, so if you’ve been on the fence, now is the time.

But if you want to go deeper than just the app, I’m hosting a live info session where I walk through how I actually integrate light, nutrition, hydration, and all the other pieces into a real personalized protocol because the research is great but knowing what to do with it, in the right order, for your specific situation is a whole different thing and that’s exactly what we cover together.

[JOIN THE FREE INFO SESSION THIS THURSDAY]

The sale closes tomorrow at midnight. Come to the info session if you want real hands on help putting it all together.
